About
Hi, I’m Heewon Kim, the founder of SeoulBase.
I was born in southern Korea and have lived in Seoul since my university years. I’ve studied here, worked here, and moved homes multiple times across different neighborhoods. Through those experiences, I’ve gained a practical understanding of how life in Seoul actually works - not just as a visitor, but as a resident.
At one point, I experienced a rental fraud case myself and handled the legal process independently. That experience gave me a deep understanding of the Korean housing system - including its risks, legal structure, and the common mistakes both locals and foreigners can make.
I also spent a year in Canada on a working holiday visa. Living abroad without clear guidance taught me how overwhelming relocation can feel - from navigating housing contracts to adapting to daily systems in a foreign country.
Over the years, as a Korea-based travel influencer, I’ve met many friends abroad who became interested in living in Seoul. I naturally began helping them plan their stay, choose neighborhoods, understand contracts, and avoid costly mistakes.
SeoulBase was created to provide that same clarity and structure to professionals planning to live in Seoul for 3-12 months and more.
I understand Seoul from both perspectives - as a local insider and as someone who has navigated life abroad alone. My role is to help you set up your life in Seoul safely, strategically, and with confidence.
